The CW has found its young Carrie Bradshaw. AnnaSophia Robb has been cast for the lead role in the network’s pilot “The Carrie Diaries”, which is a prequel to HBO’s “Sex and the City” starring Sarah Jessica Parker.
Based on Candace Bushnell’s novel of the same title, the upcoming show will follow Carrie in her younger ages, when she asks her first questions about love, sex, friendship and family while exploring the worlds of high school and Manhattan.
Amy Harris (“Gossip Girl“) writes the script and serves as executive producer along with Bushnell, Josh Schwartz, Stephanie Savage and Len Goldstein. Miguel Arteta will direct the pilot.
Robb will join Stefania Owen who has been earlier cast as Carrie’s 14-year-old sister in the project. The 18-year-old actress has previously starred in big screen films like “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory“, “Bridge to Terabithia“, “Race to Witch Mountain“, and most recently “Soul Surfer“.
“Sex and the City” prequel is likely going to happen despite objection from some people working on the previous projects. But unlike rumors which said it would be turned into a movie, Candice Bushnell’s “The Carrie Diaries” will be turned into a new TV series, possibly via The CW.
HBO actually owns the rights to “The Carrie Diaries” because it adapted “SATC” into the hit series. However, since the story about younger Carrie Bradshaw would not fit the network’s targeted audience, it is looking for another outlet for the potential series.
“Discussions are underway for The Carrie Diaries, Candice Bushnell’s book about Carrie Bradshaw’s high school years, to find a home as a potential television series,” HBO said in a statement. It is believed that The CW would be the choice to launch the “SATC” prequel because the network is a Time Warner corporate sibling to HBO and has young female target demographic.
Deadline additionally reports that “Gossip Girl” executive producers, Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, are being touted to executive produce the new project alongside Bushnell, while Warner Bros TV will produce. Meanwhile, “SATC” creator Darren Star will not be involved since it is said that the show will be done with a new creative team.
A rep for the star and executive producer for the original series, Sarah Jessica Parker, also says the actress is not attached to “The Carrie Diaries” so far. Meanwhile, “SATC” series showrunner Michael Patrick King, who also directed the two film installments, may not be involved in the project since he recently said, “I’m not working on any Sex and the City prequel at all.”

Recently, SJP was spotted attending the Broadway production ‘The Championship Season’. The girl with the golden locks was brimming with finesse and style, donning a Halston Heritage creation, with a metallic grey belt keeping it all together.
All eyes at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre turned to her like metal to magnet, as she swaggered, alongside, sporting the Charlotte Olympia pumps.
Not that she really needs any of that for us to realize what a mammoth of a style diva she is! It’s stating the obvious, but Sarah is famous for her nippy, sassy look, both on and off the show.
I don’t think the girl ever had a bad look day, and let’s hope she never does! The 45-year-old actor is presently busy shooting for New Year’s Eve!
Sarah played fashionista Carrie Bradshaw in SATC, receiving many compliments for it. The similarity in the dressing sense of her character and Sarah is so striking, that I sometimes wonder which one got inspired by the other. I guess it’s the ‘which came first – the chicken or the egg?’ question, and we’ll never know.
Whoa! I almost forgot to tell you that what was Broadway all about, which she attended.
Before I slip into anther Sarah-appreciation frenzy, let me tell you that ‘The Championship Season’ is all about five men, who finally wake up and realize that ‘The American Dream’ is just that… a dream.
Ironically, another Sex and the City actor, Chris Noth plays a prominent role in the Broadway, as Phil, an influential businessman, in a marriage that has the strength of a feather.
Well, well, well! That kinda explains SJP arriving at the event! I guess she went there to support Noth, as every good friend would do.

Actress Kim Cattrall hopes for a revival of the Sex And The City film franchise which had closed shop after the second film was universally panned by critics. The actress who shot to fame playing man-eater Samantha Jones in the cult TV series and movies, said that she wants to be a part of Sex And The City 3, reported Daily Mail online.
“It’s something that will be decided by a big CEO sitting in a wardrobe working out budgets, but I’d love to do it again. What other film will take you on a trip to the Sahara Desert,” said the 54-year-old. The franchise about four fashionista friends living in New York was great fun but the fitting sessions were a pain, said the actress. “Sometimes the fittings would be eight hours long and your whole body would ache from having clothes pulled on and off,” said Cattrall. And the actress admitted that she could not fit into many of the designer outfits that the cast were required to wear on set. “I’m not a sample size. I couldn’t wear a lot of the clothes the young designers would send us. I’d wear a lot of vintage, some of things I wore were like pieces of art,” said Cattrall.
While many people adopt babies, dogs, cats or even birds, there are some who like to do things a bit out of the ordinary!

Apparently, she spotted the mammal when she was shooting ‘Sex and the City 2‘.
Later, the lady decided to pay for the mammal to provide her shelter…. How thoughtful of her….but a baby elephant??? Hasn’t she gone too far???
Well, Davis is a really interesting personality, but I think she should have stuck to the things that make us wanna watch Sex and the City online.
When Kristin was asked about the news, she said, “I adopted a baby elephant I found abandoned in Kenya. She lives at Kenya’s Sheldrick orphanage now.”
Well, the lady really has guts to adopt an elephant and I do admire her for the gesture!
About her role in the movie, Kristin said that her character Charlotte has always been very traditional and people expect a lot from her and quite often, she doesn’t live up to their expectations.
Davis’ career is credited with many amazing projects like ‘Sour Grapes’, ‘Atomic Train’, ‘The Ultimate Lie’, ‘Doom Asylum’, ‘Blacktop’ and ‘Someone to Love’. But I feel that her best work was what she has shown in the Sex and the City series!!
I wonder how things would have been, had she brought the elephant home!! Then either she would get to stay in it, or the elephant!! LOL!!
Anyway, all said and done, there is no denying that this lady has done a gracious act, and for this, I will download Sex and the City episodes….just to appreciate her gesture and applaud her!

Why, it’s the movie ‘Sex and the City 2,’ of course.
Guillermo interrogates the confused players about their knowledge of Samantha, Carrie, Charlotte and Miranda. He also helpfully shares some information about the movie with them: for instance, the fact that Samantha is “the slutty one.” Basketball stars such as Kevin Garnett and Derek Fisher seem a little startled by the whole thing, but they do their best to play along.
And here’s a shocking fact — it seems like no one in the NBA has ever seen ‘Sex and the City 2.’ Wow. You’d think their girlfriends would force them to watch it or something. Now we’re even more jealous of NBA players. Not only are they rich and famous, but they don’t have to watch a film about quasi-menopausal women traveling to the Middle East.
Not even the big screen success of the ‘Sex and the City‘ movie (which grossed more than $400 million, worldwide) could keep ‘SATC’ series producer Michael Patrick King away from television.
Deadline reports that King is about to finalize a multi-year “mega deal” with Warner Bros. Television that will have him creating his own TV production company at WBTV. The report says he’ll help foster a group of writers and develop a slate of new TV series.
